Virologist Poliovirus
Are you a driven virologist with a passion for global health? Join the RIVM’s global specialized laboratory for polio, part of the international WHO network. In this role, you will combine specialist research with a clear sense of purpose, contributing to the eradication of poliovirus worldwide.
As a virologist, you will support the expert on polioviruses within the WHO Global Polio Laboratory Network (GPLN). You will work in an enthusiastic team of laboratory technicians and experts on the diagnosis, surveillance, and characterization of polioviruses. You ensure the quality and implementation of laboratory tasks and contribute to biorisk management activities.

Contribute to the WHO Quality Assurance program
Develop and optimize molecular techniques
Conduct laboratory surveillance and diagnostics
Analyze complex data and write scientific reports
Ensure compliance with biosafety and biosecurity guidelines
PhD in molecular virology
Experience with PCR, whole-genome sequencing, and virus culture
Excellent English communication skills
Project leadership skills
Ability to work within accredited quality systems
